Am I?
He stared at the photograph for several minutes before realizing something was wrong.
The picture showed only an empty chair.
Nothing else.
No family.
No people.
No movement.
Yet when he lowered the photograph from his hands…
they were there.
A man.
A woman.
Two children.
Standing silently in the distance behind him.
He slowly looked back at the photograph again.
The room was empty.
Only the chair remained.
His breathing became shallow.
Because the figures behind him did not exist inside the picture.
As if the camera had refused to see them.
Or worse…
as if they no longer belonged to the world the photograph captured.
The family remained perfectly still, watching him quietly.
Not angry.
Not afraid.
Only waiting.
And as the silence deepened, one thought slowly entered his mind:
If the photograph shows the truth…
then why are they still here?
